Music

Billy Stritch
A native of Sugar Land, Texas, Billy Stritch has performed all over the U.S. and internationally. Recently, he appeared with Chita Rivera and Houston native Tommy Tune in a tribute to Jule Styne at the Pallidium in London. Stritch and Sandy Knox wrote the 1994 Grammy Award-winning country song, "Does He Love You", recorded by Reba McEntire and Linda Davis, which has sold over four million copies nationwide. Stritch served as musical supervisor and vocal arranger for Liza Live from Radio City Music Hall, and writes arrangements for Liza Minnelli and Charles Aznavour's joint concert appearances worldwide. Recently he acted as associate producer, pianist and arranger for Minnelli's "Gently".

Amanda Green
As singer, songwriter, comedian and actress, the daughter of Phyllis Newman and Adolph Green has clearly inherited (and built upon) their combined talents, for which she's been awarded two 1999 MAC Awards, a 1999 Backstage Bistro, an Abe Olman Award from the Songwriter's Hall of Fame, and an Honorable mention in Billboard Magazine's Songwriting Contest (all won respectively for outstanding performances and songwriting). On television, Amanda has been seen on the Kennedy Center Honors Show on CBS and A&E. Ms. Green's wry and witty words caught the attention of Playboy Magazine, which resulted in her regular sex column, full of sharp, tongue-in-cheek humor.

"Fresh, funny, sexy, high spirited...IT'S EASY BEING GREEN WHEN YOU'RE THIS GOOD!"
New York Post

"Here's a rock-and-roll coming of age story unlike any other you're likely to read this year..."
Salon Magazine

Jayne County
If you're talking about Bowie, Blondie, The New York Dolls, The Ramones, Kiss or any big act from the high punk period, you have to include Jayne County. She was there, setting a precedent for the over the top, theatrical styles of rock-n-roll we've come to know as glam/punk and punk rock. In the 60's and 70's Jayne (born Wayne) was the youngest of the Andy Warhol superstars. Now the notable success Jayne's hilarious new autobiography, Man Enough To Be A Woman, is a pleasant, albeit well deserved, surprise.

Mark Ribot
The sweetly disturbing sounds of Mark Ribot's guitar have become notorious in the downtown NYC music scene. He has played with Allen Ginsberg, Elvis Costello, John Lurie, John Zorn, Medeski Martin & Wood, Trey Anastasio, Tom Waits and countless others.

"His playing is distinguished by informed guts .. understated grace .. soulful warmth .. tart invention .. it is everything - bright, daring alive..."
Rolling Stone

Arno Hecht
Arno Hecht and the UPTOWN HORNS established their solid reputation as one of America's foremost horn sections through fifteen years of recording, touring, and TV appearances with a virtual who's who of the pop music pantheon. If you've heard James Brown's "Living in America", Tbe B52's "Love Shack", Buster Poindexter's "Hot,Hot,Hot", or Cameo's "Word Up", you've heard the Uptown Horns. They played the Rolling Stones "Steel Wheels/ Urban Jungle" world tour in '89-'90 and recorded and played with a broad range of artists from Billy Joel to Public Enemy, Cindy Lauper to Ray Charles, B.B. King to REM.

VIEW INTERVIEW

Tristan
If you saw the wildly successful drag-rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, you could hardly help but notice the tall, sexy guitarist "Krzyzhtoff" played by Tristan, lead singer, guitarist, and one of the principal writers for the rock group Thrillcraft. Spike Lee noticed him and he was snapped up as guitar coach for Adrien Brody in Lee's hit film Summer of Sam. On his own, Tristan has established a firm footing in the world of musical production. As for his group Thrillcraft, with their list of hits on the hot, new home of original music, MP3.Com, dynamic cuts recalling Nirvana, Smashing Pumkins and the Foo Fighters, and mind-bending live performances, they are decidedly a success in the making.

"Their [Thrillcraft's] EP...is destined to be like Bleach - the one before they [Nirvana] got huge. These guys are real good...so powerful ...trust me, the song is gonna be in the top 10 in no time."
George Tabb
NewYork Press

Cherry Vanilla
was one of Andy Warhol's Superstars when she met a young, struggling David Bowie. She resolved to prove his worth to the world, and by combining professional advertising expertise, show biz savvy, and unconventional methods of promotion, she did. With the help of Leon Russell, Ian Hunter, and Michael Kamen and others, her live poetry performances enhanced by avant-garde musical accompaniment evolved into her own uniquely bawdy brand of rock & roll. Punk reigned and she got booked solid in London, where a young group called The Police were her musicians and her opening act! She collaborated with photographer Bruce Weber on the Chet Baker documentary LETS GET LOST, and currently runs Europa Entertainment Inc., the U.S management office for composer Vangelis (Chariots of Fire and Blade Runner).

VIEW INTERVIEW

Phoebe Legere
at face value seems a mass of contradictions. How can one be a blonde bombshell, Playboy pin-up, Mayflower descendant, multi-octave singer, songwriter, lyricist, arranger, comedienne, Vassar graduate, costume designer, playwright, fine artist, master of 7 instruments and many musical styles all at once? One can if one is Phoebe Legere. Period.

"…she rocks, she shocks, she shakes the rafters playing piano, accordion or hot pink guitar, and she sings with a pure, remarkable four and a half octave range..."
